Korean War Veterans Ambassador for Peace Medal
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea seeks Korean War Veterans to honor with the Ambassador for Peace Medal. The commemorative medal is an expression of appreciation from the Korean government to American service men and women who served in the Korean War. The Ambassador for Peace Medal was first presented to veterans as a special memento for those who returned to South Korea through the "Revisit Program". The honor has since been extended to veterans who are unable to visit Korea.
ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible, the veteran must have served in Korea during the Korean War between June 25, 1950 and July 27, 1953 or participated in UN peacekeeping operations until the end of 1955.
POSTHUMOUS AWARDS: The commemorative medals may be awarded posthumously. The next of kin, such as a spouse or descendants may apply for the medal on behalf of deceased veterans.
APPLICATION TO RECEIVE AWARD: Please complete the information on the attached form below and send along with your DD-14 or service record to - Idaho Division of Veterans Services, Attention Mitzi Cheldelin, 351 Collins Road, Boise, ID 83702 or email mitzi.cheldelin@veterans.idaho.gov.
Applications received before Friday, July 12, 2019 will have medals available for presentation at special ceremonies at on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at one of the following locations: American Legion Hall - Post Falls, Idaho State Veterans Home - Boise, Idaho State Veterans Home - Lewiston; or on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Idaho State Veterans Home - Pocatello .
Those unable to attend on of the ceremonies can have their medal mailed to them after July 27, 2019.
